Roots in our forests
The origin is always known

Metsä Group is a cooperative owned by Finnish forest owners. Approximately 80 per cent of wood raw material procured by Metsä Group comes from the private forests of the 125,000 owner members of Metsäliitto Cooperative in Finland.

The wood raw material we use comes from sustainably managed forests. It is legally procured. Wood is not sourced from protected forests. We always know the origin of the wood raw material and are leaders in the development and utilisation of wood origin tracking systems.

As a renewable energy source, forest energy plays a significant role in achieving the goals of climate protection. Sustainably managed forests serve as carbon storages, thereby slowing down climate change.

Metsä Group takes into account the economic, social and ecological aspects of all of its harvesting and forest management operations.

Sustainably managed forests
In sustainable forest management, ecological, social and economic
factors are in balance. In addition to wood production, the preservation of forest biodiversity is guaranteed.

Certified wood
We know the origin of the wood we use and support
forest certification. We are leaders in the development
of wood origin tracking systems.

The many uses of forests
Forests function as a source of work and livelihood and provide
many possibilities for recreation. They also slow down climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
