City Above the City competition

Metsä Wood challenged architects and students around the world to push the boundaries of modern wood building design in the urban environment. Entrants from 40 countries created their Plan B to urbanisation using wood (Kerto® LVL – laminated veneer lumber) as the main material. The task was to design a wooden extension to an existing urban building. The entries were designed to 69 cities worldwide.

All 174 entries we received are now presented on our website. From below you can search entries based on the country or a theme the design represents.

Entrants in the Metsä Wood Plan B competition are responsible to ensure that they have the legal right to provide the design into the competition. This means that the entrant has valid ownership or other comparable right of use into the design and the design does not violate any intellectual property rights of a third party, such as copyright, design right or trademark. Any violation of third part rights, such as the intellectual property rights, therefore is the sole responsibility of the entrant. Metsä Wood assumes no responsibility for such violations.
