Leading timber supplier Metsä Wood has extended its range of BIM components adding both ThermoWood and The SoundBar System to the several it already has on the market.

Earlier in the year, Metsä Wood became the first timber solutions provider to launch a series of BIM components. This latest addition of its thermally-modified wood cladding products and its acoustic flooring system strengthens the firm’s position as the vanguard of innovation in the timber sector.

The key driver of Metsä Wood’s BIM strategy is to facilitate the wider specification of engineered wood product systems and solutions by making them readily available to the architect, specifier and designer. The components are available as free downloads from metsawood.co.uk or bimstore.co.uk.

Kevin Riley, Metsä Wood’s vice president for the construction industry, said: “Having already demonstrated our understanding of how BIM will become an integral part of the construction process from design through to delivery, we are going one step further by making additional products and systems available.

“We want to facilitate those architects, specifiers and designers who are thinking about the construction of buildings in a holistic and modern way.”

The following Metsä Wood systems and solutions are now available:

  • Finnjoist and the Finnframe Floor System
  • Kerto-Q and Kerto-S
  • Leno - CLT
  • LowE commercial wall system
  • Kerto-Ripa
  • SoundBar System
  • ThermoWood
