Challence

Our customer Assyx, a German company operating in a concrete block industry, needed a solid and long-term partner to deliver the base plates for manufacturing shaped concrete blocks. The base plates have to withstand a large amount of compacting pressure in the vibration and compacting processes.

Solution

Metsä Wood's solid wooden plates sheathed on all sides was the best way to reach the high requirements of concrete industry. While the concrete blocks are drying, the base plates are subjected to continuous and very high levels of moisture over the course of few days. In the fully automated manufacturing process, the base plates are also subjected to a high degree of mechanical stress.

Results

The dimensionally stable foundation for the base plate is produced with Metsä Wood's made-to-measure Kerto® LVL Q-plates. The homogenous Kerto LVL Q-plates have an extremely high flexural rigidity. In addition, the plates are treated with an air- and water-resistant coating using a special assyx technology. The innovative DuroBoard base plate stands out for its high quality and value as well as its long operating lifespan.
