Challenge

Endurance Doors was established in 1993 as a manufacturer of door panels. Presently it produces composite doors, internal doors, marquee products, foiling and extrusions.

In the UK, the Government requires that all wood products must originate from legitimate, sustainably managed forests. In addition, Endurance Doors has to be able to prove this throughout the entire value chain, from the forest to the end-user. Traceability is also important to the consumers.

Solution

Endurance Doors uses Metsä Wood’s Kerto® LVL Q-products in the manufacturing of external doors. Most of the wood used by Metsä Wood comes from Finland where the Forest Act is strict and requires good forest management. 100% of the wood used by Metsä Wood is traceable back to its origin. Because of Metsä’s comprehensive and certified tracking systems, known as the chain-of-custody, all data can also be verified by an independent third party.

Results

Endurance Doors has taken the certification as a part of its procurement policy. Endurance Doors also uses certification in their advertising because it’s a sign of a company that has sustainability in the core of its operations.

Metsä Wood’s comprehensive tracking systems mean that Endurance Doors can rest assured that the wood comes from sustainably managed forests.
