Kerto LVL elements, the sustainable timber solution

Challenge

Switzerland is reputed for its very high level of safety, security, stability and apart from all other advantages of which the high standard of living-quality is known all over the world. Centrally positioned in Europe, its multi-lingual, highly educated workforce draw with many other attractive features internationally operating companies to this country.

The principal Nemaco Suisse asked, because they have a strong social vision on sustainable project development, Dedato Ontwerpers to design an office building in as much as possible timber and, besides that, to create a spatial feeling for the end-users as well.

Solution

For the floor construction as well as for the double roof construction Kerto LVL elements have been chosen. The fact that the beams and the Kerto plate have been glued together in the Kerto LVL elements the construction stays relatively slim and with this solution large spans can be easily achieved. An additional advantage is that in this solution that the diaphragm action is ensured without crosslinking.

Results

‘Le Pavillon de Terre-Bonne’ a hypermodern business park with international appeal has risen.
Durability, manufacturability and constructive aspects have gone hand in hand without losing the simplicity and architectural point of view.

And indeed, it is entirely built of wood. The whole building, the interior and exterior, are breathing wood.
