Open Source Wood Hackathons

Metsä Wood has organised several hackathons as a part of Open Source Wood initiative. Open Source Wood aims to increase the use of wood as a building material by making knowledge and innovation of wood construction better available to everybody.

Hackathons invite professionals and students of wood construction to collaborate. The teams are challenged to design a wooden module or element within a single day. After the event, the designs are uploaded on the opensourcewood.com platform, from which anyone can download them and utilise them in their own projects. The designs are licensed under Creative Commons CC BY 4.0.

All the end results are available and free to use at https://www.opensourcewood.com.
